Necron Flayed Ones

Description

For six years I've had a closet love if the Necron. Due to the new codex however, I can now enjoy them as a real 40k player should (on the battle field that is). These pictures are of the conversions i am performing for a number of reasons. The unit they will represent are the dreaded Flyaed Ones. Yes normally they would have long blade-like talons to attack with, but there older better looking models are no longer buy-able. Whats worse is the fact the the new ones look like crap, and cost nearly three times as much as it costs me to produce these conversions.

so the standard Necron warrior box allows me to convert 6 flayed ones and 6 immortals, for a price tag a little over 36 dallors.

now my reasoning for why they have swords, is because i like new Necron fluff regarding the "Triarchs". however most of the "Triarch" infantry units are sub-par (IMO), so i call my flayed ones "Triarch VanDrakes". the "Triarch" part of the name is obvious. The "Van" part comes for Vanguard, fighters at the tip of an assault or behind enemy lines which is shown by there special rules Infiltrate and Deep Strike. The "Drake" is simply to mock the silly "ManDrakes" which are a generally inferior equivalent unit used by the Dark Eldar.

Aha, great minds think alike!

I also made all of my flayed ones from Necron Warriors, and like you, I actually considered using Tomb Kings parts to make them all. However, in the end I decided on something different- using energy blades made from green rod sprue instead.

It's great to see this idea done out, exactly as awesome as I always envisioned it! Kudos.
